Yes, I am aware I am taking this instagram thing too far...

Ah, Tuesday.  Perhaps my least favorite day of the week... That whole  "fresh-outta-the-weekend-ready-to-go" feeling is pretty much worn off, yet Friday evening is still so far away.  And girlfriend here's got a lovely schedule that goes as follows:

  • Work
  • School
  • More work
I know, you wish you could be my today.  At least my Monday was the bees knees (People need to start using that phrase more!). Despite that fact that Siri told me it was definitely going to rain, and my hunters were SUPER pumped to stomp in some juicy rain puddles, which, as you can see by the upper-right picture, it did not rain.  In fact, it was surprisingly sunny, which I decided was better.  Yesterday's superior-ness (?) began when I got off work and got green lights from Hays St. to University, basically cutting my drive home in half.  Does anyone else get that indescribable high when each light turns green JUST in time?  No?  Well it's amazing.  Then, my day took a little step backward when my iron decided to BURN A GIANT UGLY GAPING hole in a skirt I was planning to wear for some "today is unseasonably warm" frolicking that was to take place in the park.  But the awesome day was not lost!  For boyfriend, being the rockstar that he is, bought me a jamba juice, took me to Anthropologie (where we picked out the cutesie patootsie mugs seen above), then to the mall so we could replace both the skirt, and the iron that now had a giant hunk of skirt permanently baked onto it.  That man sure knows how to save the day!

That was followed up by some seriously intense Zumba-ing that may or may not have kicked my bum into shape!   Then baked some lemon crinkles that i had all a majority of the ingredients for.  To me, since we missed a few ingredients, I thought they were a little off.. but Nicklaus and his guest both said they were great!  Then proceeded to eat the entire batch.  To each his own!

So Tuesday, let's try to be decent, even though you won't top Monday.  Or probably any other day of the week for that matter.

But I'd be happy if you, by some cosmic chance, proved me wrong!

Sundays are for...

Sundays are for:

- Not being able to sleep in, so we watch a Nova video on Darwin at 6 am.  (But seriously, are we the only ones who adore NOVA?)
- Working on homework for wayyyy too long (blahblahblah).
- Surprise breakfast a la Starbucks and snuggles to go with!
- Some thrown-together-with-whatever-we-have taco burritos that end up tasting like a fiesta (Can I get an OLE!)
- Spontaneously deciding at 10 pm that I should cut my own bangs, despite never having had bangs before EVA.  (Mondays are for spending all day deciding how I feel about them, just btw).
- Grey's Anatomy (But that happens pretty much everyday: Mongrey, Tuesgrey, Wednesgrey...)
- Wearing red lipstick, despite not having anywhere to go really... ("What's that, Lola?  You think I look very kissable?  Well thanks, you look pretty stunnin' yourself!")
- Having conversations with my kitten.... no judgement...
- Reveling in all the lazy deliciousness that Sunday offers.

May this weeks awesomeness begin!

Pinkalicious

Coming home to a lovely surprise present from your babycakes is super awesome.  But what's even more awesome is when that surprise present is a hot pink KitchenAid mixer!  I love that boy I sure do!  And I will thank him with abundant baked goodies!

AND the theme for Friday night was hot pink and black, obviously.

I have a love affair with this weekend.

What I loved about this week:

1.)  Watching Nicklaus running up and down the court, whistle in hand, all Coach Carter like when his fifth grade basketball team has a game!  AND when I bring after game celebration libations and a sweet littl'un  thanks him and calls him "Coach." How official.  Like a referee with a whistle.  Exactly like that.
2.)  Watching Grey's Anatomy seasons 1, 2, 3, AND 4.  Seasons 1&2 > than 3&4, and probably better than 5 will be, but hey, I'm committed.  Although I have to ask, if Dr. Shepherd is the most world renowned neurosurgeon, and Dr. Sloane is the best plastic surgeon, and blah blah blah everyone's the best, why do so many people die on that show?  Just sayin'...
3.)  Oh yeah, did i mention this little baby?
Yeah, I suppose you could consider me a part of the in crowd now.  But not really because I still have to ask Nick how to every single little thing on it, even finding where my contacts are.  But hey, I can look cool, even if looks are deceiving...
4.)  The way Taylor (2 year old I nanny) has got non stop gas, and the cute way she says "Gooz me!"  everytime.  Who knew toots  could be so darn adorbs?
5.)  Lola kitty's new obsession with the bath and showers.  Every single time I get out of the shower, this is what I see waiting for me:

And then she proceeds to jump into the shower .

Happy Friday!!

Dear New Shoes,

My Nearest and Dearest Shoes,

You, my friends, have got some serious swag.  I promise to love you and cherish you, and commit to you.  I will wear you proud, and no matter how loudly my dogs mayeth bark, I promise I will never allow you to dangle shamelessly from my fingers as I stumble barefooted down gravel.  NO.  I will wear you proudly in all your velvety, stilt-like wonderfullness.  I thank you for guiding me through life in the 5'7'' and over club that, although I enjoy under false pretenses, I would never know if it hadn't been for you and your epically tall proportions.  Heels, I salute you.

Your new friend,
Dani J

somedays it's a good day to turn 20!

And somedays it's a good day to eat really yummy rich cupcakes!  AND if you're my dear friend Nick, then somedays you get to do both.  I know, I was jealous too.  So naturally, to celebrate my funky friend's birthday I turned to pinterest, which I've decided is the first place to turn to for just about everything. I found this recipe to make a peanut butter cup like cupcake!

First there was this:
^ As shown above, I am slighty very messy while baking...
Then we had these!

Which were then frosted into these:

Which, when combined with good friends, soft jazz and some bubbly leads to a VERY fun night.  Thank you friends, and thank you Nick for sharing your birthday with us.  Your handsomeness is appreciated by the Jackson-Blasius household.

Pardon moi on the blurriness.

Oh,
You can find the recipe I uses for these tasty chocolatey peanut buttery bad boys right here!

happy late new year, one and all

It's a new year!
And if this year is going to be anything like our New Year's Party Extravaganza was, the I know it's going to kick some serious boo-tay!
Evidence of said boo-tay kickin' New Year's Party:

Some fun facts from the night:

  • When told to "dress classy" for an event, 5% of boys will show up in a button up, another 5% of boys will show up in a sweater, and 90% of boys will show up in a combination of the two.  But I'm not complaining, because those boys got some serious style.
  • Kaci will hold her photobooth prop backwards a small percentage of the time... as seen here:

AND here

May all have a marvelous 2012!
